1) Verify printer network settings
- Print printer network/status page
- Confirm IP address, subnet mask, and gateway
- Update settings if they no longer match the network
2) Check IP address changes
- Confirm printer IP did not change after network work
- Assign a static IP if required
- Update printer port on POS / CSC to match new IP
3) Verify VLAN and subnet placement
- Confirm printer is connected to correct VLAN
- Ensure POS / CSC systems can reach printer subnet
- Correct switch port VLAN assignment if incorrect
4) Check switch port security
- Verify port security or MAC filtering is not blocking printer
- Disable port security temporarily for testing
- Whitelist printer MAC address if required
5) Verify gateway and DNS settings
- Confirm printer gateway matches network design
- Correct DNS settings if printer requires name resolution
- Reboot printer after network changes
6) Clear cached printer routing
- Restart Print Spooler service
- Restart POS / CSC application services
- Reboot workstation if routing cache persists
7) Test connectivity
- Ping printer IP from POS / CSC
- Print Windows test page
- Send live test order
8) Escalation check
- If printer still fails:
- Capture network topology details
- Record printer IP, MAC, and switch port
- Escalat
