1) Confirm crash behavior

  • Verify application closed without user action
  • Note whether system returned to desktop or login
  • Ask what action was being performed at time of crash

2) Restart POS application

  • Relaunch POS application
  • Confirm login and order entry function normally
  • Check whether crash repeats immediately

3) Check system resource availability

  • Open Task Manager
  • Verify sufficient free memory and CPU
  • Close unnecessary background applications

4) Review application logs

  • Locate POS application log files
  • Look for error or exception messages near crash time
  • Save logs for escalation if needed

5) Clear local cache or configuration

  • Close POS application
  • Clear application cache or temp directories if supported
  • Restart application after cleanup

6) Check for recent updates or changes

  • Identify recent application or OS updates
  • Roll back or patch if crash correlates with update
  • Restart system after corrective changes

7) Verify compatibility with background software

  • Check antivirus or security software interference
  • Temporarily disable non-essential utilities for testing
  • Re-test POS stability

8) Test under normal operation
