Purpose
Force the system to re-detect a USB-connected receipt printer without rebooting.
Used for Trouble: Receipt Printer Not Detected (USB)

Preconditions
- Printer is powered on
- USB cable is physically accessible
Steps
- Log into the store server as hds.
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Plug the USB cable back into the printer.
- Restart the print service:
sudo systemctl restart cups - Wait 10 seconds.
Validation
- Confirm printer appears in the device list
- Send a test receipt
- Verify printer prints normally
Notes
If the printer is still not detected, escalate for hardware or USB port investigation.
