1) Verify printer emulation or language mode

  • Access printer configuration menu
  • Confirm correct emulation (e.g. ESC/POS)
  • Disable unsupported modes

2) Confirm correct printer driver

  • Verify driver matches printer model and emulation
  • Avoid generic drivers
  • Reinstall vendor driver if unsure

3) Check firmware compatibility

  • Confirm firmware version supports current driver
  • Update firmware if recommended
  • Reboot printer after update

4) Verify application print output mode

  • Confirm application is not sending raw binary data
  • Disable test or debug print modes
  • Reset print configuration if recently changed

5) Check connection integrity

  • Replace USB or Ethernet cable
  • Avoid long or low-quality cables
  • Test alternate port or connection type

6) Clear printer buffer

  • Power off printer
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Power on and retest

7) Test with simple output

  • Print basic text-only ticket
  • Confirm characters print correctly

8) Escalation check

  • If corruption continues:
  • Capture sample output
  • Record printer model, firmware, driver versions
  • Escalate to hardware or application support
