Used for Trouble: T-000046

1) Confirm freeze behavior

  • Verify screen is unresponsive to touch or mouse
  • Note whether application is frozen or entire system
  • Ask when issue typically occurs (idle, peak, specific action)

2) Attempt safe recovery

  • Wait 10–15 seconds to confirm it is not a temporary delay
  • Try switching focus (Alt+Tab) if keyboard is available
  • Avoid forced reboot unless necessary

3) Restart POS application

  • Close POS application if possible
  • Reopen application cleanly
  • Verify order entry works normally after restart

4) Check system resource usage

  • Check CPU and memory usage
  • Identify any background process consuming excessive resources

5) Clear local cache or temp files

  • Close POS application
  • Clear application temp or cache directories if supported
  • Restart application after cleanup

6) Verify network connectivity

  • Confirm network connection is stable
  • Check for delays or timeouts when submitting orders
  • Resolve connectivity issues before retesting

7) Check uptime and restart policy

  • Determine how long terminal has been running
  • Reboot terminal if uptime is excessive
  • Implement daily or scheduled restarts if freezes recur

8) Test during normal operation

  • Enter several test orders
  • Confirm responsiveness remains stable
  • Monitor behavior during moderate load

9) Escalation check

Escalate to application or systems support

If freezes continue:
