Used for Trouble: T-000042

1) Confirm uptime-related behavior

  • Ask when printer last rebooted
  • Verify printing works immediately after restart
  • Confirm failure occurs only after extended runtime

2) Power-cycle printer

  • Turn printer off
  • Wait at least 30 seconds
  • Power on and allow full initialization

3) Restart print services

  • Restart Windows Print Spooler service
  • Restart POS / CSC application services
  • Ensure services start cleanly

4) Check printer firmware

  • Identify current firmware version
  • Review vendor notes for uptime or memory issues
  • Update firmware if recommended

5) Monitor printer memory and buffer usage

  • Reduce ticket complexity if possible
  • Disable unnecessary graphics or logos
  • Observe whether failures correlate with high volume

6) Verify network stability over time

  • Test continuous ping to printer
  • Check for dropped connections after long uptime
  • Resolve network instability if detected

7) Implement preventative reboot schedule

  • Schedule regular printer reboots (e.g. daily or weekly)
  • Align reboot with off-hours or opening routine

8) Escalation check

  • If printer still fails after long uptime:
  • Record uptime duration before failure
  • Capture printer model and firmware version
  • Escalate to hardware or application support
