T-000006 – Receipt Printer Prints Blank Receipts

Purpose
Restore correct printing when receipts are blank by verifying the printer driver and emulation settings.

Applies To
Environment: Store
OS: Linux

Preconditions

  • POS is operational
  • Printer feeds paper normally
  • Server is reachable via terminal

Steps

  1. Log into the store server as hds.
  2. Open the CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631).
  3. Navigate to Printers and select the affected receipt printer.
  4. Review the printer model and driver.
  5. Confirm the driver matches the physical printer model.
  6. Check printer emulation mode (ESC/POS is required).
  7. If emulation is incorrect, update the printer driver to the correct ESC/POS driver.
  8. Save changes and restart the printer from CUPS.
  9. Print a test receipt from CUPS.

Expected Result
Receipt prints correctly with readable text.

Escalation
If output is still blank, verify printer firmware or replace the printer.
