T-000007 – Receipt Printer Prints Blank Receipts

Purpose
Restore correct printing when receipts are blank by verifying the printer driver and emulation settings.

Preconditions

  • POS is operational
  • Printer feeds paper normally
  • Network or USB connection is stable

Steps

  1. Log into the store server as hds.
  2. Open the CUPS web interface:
    http://localhost:631
  3. Select Printers → choose the affected receipt printer.
  4. Open Administration → Modify Printer.
  5. Verify the printer model and driver:
    • Prefer manufacturer-specific ESC/POS driver
    • Avoid “Generic Text Only” unless required
  6. Confirm emulation mode matches printer capability (ESC/POS).
  7. Save changes and apply configuration.
  8. Print a test receipt from CUPS.
  9. Confirm text prints correctly (not blank).

Result
Receipts print normally with visible text.
